Welcome to Goldenwood. These terms explain the ground rules for using goldenwoodnyc.org and for taking part in our events and programs. By using the site or registering for something, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Goldenwood Inc. ("Goldenwood," "we," "us") is a faith-rooted nonprofit community based in Princeton, New Jersey.

Using the site

You are welcome to read, share and link to the site for personal and non-commercial purposes. Please do not misuse it: do not try to break or overload it, get into areas you are not invited to, collect other people's information, send spam, or use the site for anything unlawful.

We work hard to keep the site accurate and available, but we may change, pause or remove parts of it at any time, and dates, prices and program details can change. The details on an event's page, and in your confirmation email, are the ones that apply to your registration.

Accounts and sign-in

Staff and invited reviewers sign in with a Google account or a one-time code sent by email, and we may offer member accounts in the future. If you have an account, keep your sign-in details to yourself and let us know at info@goldenwoodnyc.org if you think someone else has used it. We may suspend an account that is being misused.

Our content

Unless stated otherwise, the words, photographs, recordings, illustrations, logos and design on this site belong to Goldenwood or to the people who made them and have allowed us to use them. Please ask before reusing them beyond sharing a link or a short quotation with credit. The Goldenwood name and marks may not be used in a way that suggests we endorse you or your work.

What you send us

When you fill in a form, register, apply, write to us or leave a comment on a page we have invited you to review, you are responsible for what you send. Please be honest and kind, and do not share anything you do not have the right to share or anything confidential about someone else.

You keep ownership of what you write. You give Goldenwood permission to use it for the purpose you sent it: to answer you, run the event or program, consider your application or improve the page you commented on. We will ask before quoting you publicly by name.

Events and programs

Registration and payment for our events are covered by our Registration & Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms. Some events, especially retreats and cohort programs, have their own terms on the event page, and those apply to that event.

How we gather

Goldenwood gatherings depend on trust. We ask everyone to treat others with respect, to keep confidential what others share in listening sessions and small groups, and to follow the reasonable instructions of our hosts and of any venue we use. We may ask anyone whose behavior is harmful, harassing or disruptive to leave an event or program, and in serious cases we may do so without a refund.

Photography and recording

We sometimes photograph, film or record our events to share the story of Goldenwood, on this site, in our newsletter and on social media. By attending, you agree that you may appear in these images and recordings. If you would rather not be photographed, just tell a host on the day or email info@goldenwoodnyc.org beforehand, and we will do our best to leave you out. If we later use an image of you that you would like removed, write to us and we will take it down where we reasonably can. We do not record confidential listening sessions without telling participants first.

Your wellbeing

You take part in activities, travel and outdoor time at your own discretion. Please tell us in advance about any health or accessibility needs so we can prepare, and look after yourself and your belongings.

Links and other services

The site links to and embeds services run by others, such as Stripe for payments, PayPal for donations, and Spotify, YouTube and Vimeo for audio and video. We are not responsible for their content or practices, and their own terms apply when you use them.

Limits of our responsibility

We offer the site and its content "as is." While we take care, we cannot promise the site will always be available, error-free or free of harmful components, and the content on it is not professional, legal, financial or medical advice.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Goldenwood and its staff, volunteers and board are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or participation in our programs, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the event or program the claim relates to (or $100 if you paid nothing). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for our own gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere. Before going to court, we ask that you write to us so we can try to resolve things together.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after a change, the updated terms apply. Changes do not affect a registration you have already paid for unless you agree.
